Irish Dance

Description

This lively and energetic class introduces dancers to the vibrant world of Irish dance! Students will learn the fundamentals of traditional Irish step dancing, including posture, rhythm, footwork, and timing—all while building coordination, strength, and musicality.

Class time will focus on both soft shoe technique and performance-style choreography, giving dancers a well-rounded foundation in this spirited cultural art form. Whether it’s their first jig or they’re continuing a growing interest, dancers will enjoy the challenge and joy of Irish music and movement in a supportive, noncompetitive environment.

Open to dancers ages 5.5–13, this class encourages confidence, cultural appreciation, and a deep love of rhythm—one skip and step at a time.

General Info

A note about hair and jewelry: all dancers, regardless of gender, are expected to have and keep hair out of the face. It is a distraction and often a hazard when dangling loose or insecurely pulled back. Bangs or pieces of hair hanging down into the face or covering eyes are not acceptable. Necklaces, bracelets, toe rings, and any earrings (aside from studs) are very dangerous in class to the dancer wearing them and the dancers around them. They could get caught and yanked off inadvertently, fall off and be stepped on, and/or be lost/broken.
